Technology should always have a purpose. And in a new C-Max that's to keep you as comfortable, connected and safe as possible. So discover a range of remarkable technologies that are simple to use, or simply work for you.

Go hands-free with SYNC 3 - SYNC 3 is our most advanced version to date. It's faster and easier to use, with enhanced voice commands and even more functionality. The new interface has larger buttons for improved usability, and the colour Touchscreen now features pinch-and-swipe gestures found on smartphones and tablets for even more intuitive navigation. SYNC 3 also features APPLink, Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto, to display your smartphone's information on the touchscreen.

Parking made even easier - Active Park Assist can steer you into parking spaces just 20% longer than your vehicle. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as your drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while you do is operate the accelerator, gears and brake (following on-screen instructions and audible signals).

Sensors that take the stress out of parking - Parking distance sensors help you judge the distance between your vehicle and obstacles around you. When the sensors detect an object, they activate an audible warning that intensifies the closer you get to it.

Easier, safer reversing - Bollards, bicycles, low walls... The rear-view camera shows what's behind you on a screen built into the centre console. As well as revealing objects you might miss, the system displays virtual lines to help you park into the smallest of spaces. The camera activates automatically when you select reverse gear.

Sees the road signs you might miss - Whether the signs are at the side of the road or above it, permanent or temporary, Traffic Sign Recognition can identify them. An icon of that speed or a no-overtaking sign appears on the instrument cluster and changes every time you enter a new limit.

Spots the vehicles you might miss - Cross Traffic Alert is part of Blind Spot Information System. When you're reversing out of a space and have limited visibility of the traffic situation, Cross Traffic Alert can detect oncoming vehicles and sound a warning. The technology illuminates a light in the wing mirror too (left or right depending on the direction of oncoming traffic).

Ford Powershift. Fast and fuel saving - Combining the convenience of an automatic with the control of a manual this advanced six-speed gearbox pre-selects the next gear for you so you don't lose power when you change. PowerShift's lightning fast, seamless gear changes make driving smoother while saving fuel and lowering CO2 emissions compared with a normal automatic.

Helping you brake at high speeds - The Active Braking system is an innovative safety feature that works when you're traveling at speeds of over 30mph. The technology uses RADAR to scan the road ahead and if it detects a collision is likely, will warn you. If you don't react, the system primes the brakes then starts braking to help you slow down. Below a speed of 30mph another technology is there to help you: Active City Stop. Combined these two technologies give you the reassurance of braking assistance through the whole speed range.

Helping you keep a safe distance - The instrument cluster features a Distance indicator. This continuously displays the distance to the vehicle in front and illuminates a traffic light system of coloured icons depending on the proximity settings you've chosen. Distance alert can also alert you with a red warning symbol is you get too close to the vehicle in front.

Ultra-bright, low-energy, bi-xenon headlights - Bi-Xenon Headlights with Adaptive lighting change the headlamp beam pattern automatically to apply the best light distribution to a given driving situations. This ensures the most effective illumination pattern is produced automatically for any given driving condition, from motorways to city streets. Included in this technology is auto dip function when an oncoming vehicles is detected.

Driving Alert System tells you when you're getting tired - Driver Alert System constantly monitors your driving behaviors and is designed to detect any changes that could be caused by fatigue. If the system identifies you're becoming less vigilant, a Warning icon appears in the display, suggesting you take break. If your driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.

Helping you see, without dazzling others - A useful night-driving aid, Auto High Beam temporarily dips your headlights when it detects oncoming traffic or a vehicle ahead, stopping you dazzling other drivers. It then automatically reverts back to high beam, giving you maximum viability.

A system that can help protect pedestrians - Pre-Collision Assist detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or who could cross the vehicle's path, and warns you of their presence. If you don't respond, the system automatically applies the brakes. This technology id designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether, and functions at speeds of up to 50mph.

An advanced system to help you stay in lane - If it detects that you're accidentally drifting out of lane, Lane-Keeping Alert can alert you by vibrating the steering wheel and displaying a visual warning.

Cruise control that can adapt automatically - With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicles ahead, it will slow your vehicle to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

Extra control during hill starts - Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator. It's also useful when you're stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.

Technology that sees what you cant see - The Blind Spot Information System uses RADAR sensors to see vehicles that may be hidden in your blind spot. They're situated on either side of your C-Max and alert you with an orange light, clearly displayed in the side door mirror.

Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance - An important and potentially life-saving part of Ford SYNC is Emergency Assistance. In the unlikely event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth-paired and connected mobile phone to automatically make a direct call to the Emergency Services for you. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system will supply vital information, Such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unconscious

Comfort and Convenience

Intelligent design means that every feature of the C-Max is there for a reason and, most important of all, has a real-world benefit. This convenience is matched by comfort, making every drive an enjoyable, stress-free journey.

A hands-free tailgate for effortless opening and closing - If you've got your hands full, and the C-Max senses the proximity of your KeyFree key fob all you have to do is wave your foot under the rear bumper and the tailgate will automatically open or close.
