This is probably the final version of the Fiesta since a new generation model is expected to appear new year. But what a swansong this looks to be. The ST has been a big hot in the UK and this looks to take it all further.
Naturally it has more power and torques, with power up 17bhp to 197bhp and torque up by 34lb ft to 214bl ft. The effects on performance aren't huge though. The 0-62mph time is down by just 0.2sec to 6.7sec and top speed is up 4mph to 143mph/
However, we know that this engine is plenty strong enough. One sign of this is that the overboost button pumps those figures up to 212bhp and 236lb ft respectively. The key here is that this increase can now help for 15sec.
But these's more to the ST200 than power and torque. The transmission has been tweaked, everything from the final drive ratio to the torque vectoring control. The electronic stability control has also been upgraded, and changes to the suspension put the centre of gravity 15mm lower and should increase stuffness.
Steering and brakes have also been beefed up, to go with the new matt black alloys and new paint. Inside the cabin has part-leather recaro seats with quite a bit of silver contrasting stitching around the cabin, from seatbelts to seats.
The scuff plates are illuminated and the brakes calipers are red, signs of the intended audience for this hot hatch. Looks like the swan and indeed the fat lady haven't sung just yet!!!
